More Than Words

Devotional Thought

For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty... Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

-2 Peter 1:16-21

In a world filled with conflicting voices and shifting cultural opinions, how do we know what is true? The Bible stands apart from all other books because it claims to be—and proves to be—the very Word of God. It is not a collection of myths or human philosophies; rather, it is God’s revelation, given through the Holy Spirit, and verified by history, prophecy, and the life of Jesus Christ.

Peter reminds us that the apostles were not spreading fictional stories but were eyewitnesses of Christ’s majesty. Additionally, the Bible’s historical accuracy, it's supernatural preservation, and the fulfillment of its prophecies provide overwhelming evidence of divine authorship. Unlike other religious texts, the Bible is rooted in real history, confirmed by archaeology, and validated by countless manuscripts.

If the Bible truly is God’s revelation, it demands our attention. It is not merely a book of suggestions but the authoritative guide to truth, salvation, and how we are to live. Do we trust God’s Word? Do we allow it to shape our thoughts, actions, and beliefs?
