Spiritual Gifts

Devotional Thought

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ, we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

-Romans 12:3-8

As believers, we are uniquely crafted by God, not only in personality and character but also in spiritual giftings. These gifts are not merely for personal benefit but for building up the body of Christ and advancing God’s Kingdom. Paul reminds us in Romans 12 that every believer has a role and purpose within the Church. The diversity of gifts—whether prophesying, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, or showing mercy—reflects the wisdom of God in creating a unified, interdependent community.

Spiritual gifts are given by grace, meaning we cannot earn them or boast about them. They are entrusted to us for service, and as good stewards, we are called to exercise them with humility, diligence, and joy. When we operate within our God-given abilities, we contribute to a thriving, spiritually mature Church. Our calling is not just to recognize our gifts but to use them in love and service to others, fulfilling God’s greater purpose.
