Finding Joy in Jesus

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

-Luke 2:10

How can the Christmas story bring “great joy”?

1. There’s “great joy” because Jesus was born for all people.

The angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'

-Luke 2:10-11

2. There’s “great joy” because Jesus was born for the Valley.

…Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

-Matthew 1:20a-21

Jesus = THE ONE WHO SAVES

Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

-Acts 4:12

Believers do not live as those who have no purpose.

We don’t fear as those who have no faith.

We do not struggle as those who have no strength and we do not endure as those who have no peace.

We don’t suffer as those who have no joy.

For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

-John 3:16

3. There’s “great joy” because Jesus was born for you.

Joy is more than happiness.

…I have come that they may have life and have it to the fullest.

-John 10:10a

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

-Romans 5:8

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

-Luke 2:10
