Hidden Stress or Hidden Holiness
Devotional Thought
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
-Matthew 6:25
Life is fraught with uncertainties. Jesus' teaching in Matthew 6:25-33 doesn't ignore the challenges we face—financial struggles, health crises, relational pain—but it invites us into a different response: trust. The word "worry" in the original language implies being "overwhelmed by concern." Jesus calls us to seek first the Kingdom of God, trusting that everything else will align according to His wisdom and care.
This trust doesn’t mean that hardships vanish or that we receive every material thing we desire. Instead, it’s about anchoring our hearts in eternal priorities. The Apostle Paul, despite immense suffering, described his trials as “light and momentary” compared to the eternal glory he anticipated (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). This eternal perspective transforms worry into worship and fear into faith.
