I have come that you may have life and have it to the fullest.

-John 10:10

Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord!

-Philippians 3:1a

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

-Philippians 3:14

1. Your perspective on the temporary things of this world will reveal where you’ll find Joy & Purpose.

…we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.

-Philippians 3:3b-6

What’s on YOUR list?

Where is your hope? Where do you turn for comfort and security? What brings you joy?

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him…

-Philippians 3:7-9a

2. Your priorities will determine the level of your joy.

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

-Philippians 3:10-11

They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.

-Acts 5:40b-41

3. Your pursuit will determine where you spend eternity.

For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.

-Philippians 3:18-19

But our citizenship is in heaven.

-Philippians 3:20a

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

-Philippians 3:20-21

The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

-Psalm 9:9

I will say of the LORD, he is my refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust.

-Psalm 91:2
